WSNC Governance Overview
The Watercolor Society of North Carolina (WSNC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, with support from regional directors and committee members across the state.
Our bylaws guide how we operate—ensuring transparency, fairness, and consistency in everything from how officers are elected to how exhibitions are organized.
Key points include:
Membership: Open to all North Carolina residents working in water-based media. Members vote on key decisions and elect board officers.
Board Structure: The WSNC is led by an Executive Committee (President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary) and a full board that includes Regional Directors and Chairs of key committees.
Elections: Officers and Directors are elected to two-year terms by the membership at the annual meeting.
Meetings: The society holds an Annual Meeting, usually in conjunction with our Juried Exhibition, along with regular board and regional meetings throughout the year.
Exhibitions & Programs: Our bylaws outline the process for managing juried exhibitions while additional programs and awards are developed by regional groups, committees, or the board to support artists and promote watercolor arts across North Carolina.
Nonprofit Status: WSNC is committed to operating in accordance with all applicable nonprofit laws, and our financials and policies are reviewed annually.
