FAQs

Whether you're an artist, a collector, or just watercolor-curious, we’ve got answers.

  • If you're 18 or older and either live in North Carolina or own property here, you're welcome to join us!Description text goes here

  • Annual membership is just $35. It’s one of the most affordable ways to gain access to high-quality programming, exhibition opportunities, and a network of talented watercolor artists.

  • Members can enter our annual juried exhibition, attend monthly online events and artist demos, participate in regional activities, and connect in our private online community. Plus, members get visibility, resources, and access to signature membership eligibility.

  • Signature Membership is an honor awarded to artists who have been accepted into three WSNC statewide juried exhibitions within a 10-year period. Once earned, members can proudly sign their work with "WSNC" after their name, a mark of artistic accomplishment and dedication to the watercolor medium.
WSNC Master Status is our highest honor. It's awarded to artists who have been accepted into 15 or more Annual Juried Exhibitions and have kept their Signature Status throughout.
It recognizes both exceptional talent and long-term commitment to the Society. Only WSNC Masters can use “WSNCM” after their name on watermedia paintings.

Event & Program

FAQs

  • We host monthly online artist demonstrations and panel discussions, regional in-person events, workshops, and of course, our annual statewide exhibition. There’s always something happening!

  • Both! We offer regional events throughout the state and online programming so that no matter where you are, you can participate.

  • WSNC is divided into Eastern, Central, and Western regions. Each region hosts its own events throughout the year. You can find upcoming events on our Regional Areas page or on your page in our members-only community.

Annual Juried

Exhibition

FAQs

  • A juried exhibition is a show where artists submit their work, and a judge (called a juror) selects which pieces will be included. It’s a competitive process, and being accepted is an honor!

At WSNC, our Annual Juried Exhibition showcases outstanding watercolor artists from across North Carolina and beyond. We invite a nationally or internationally recognized artist to serve as juror each year — and yes, prizes are awarded!

  • The exhibition takes place in late September or early October and is part of a fun-filled weekend that includes our annual membership meeting, regional gatherings, artist demos, and plenty of time to celebrate together.

  • The WSNC Annual Juried Exhibition rotates between our three regions — Western, Central, and Eastern North Carolina — so no matter where you live, the show will eventually roll into your area.
Each year, it’s held in a respected gallery or museum in one of our NC cities, making it a great excuse for a little art-filled getaway.
